POSITION SUMMARY
The Occupational Health & Safety Professional will be responsible for all safety and help ensure compliance to all applicable local, federal and international health, and safety regulations. Implement effective compliance and management programs, and act as liaison with regulatory agencies. Responsible for and provides, administration and develops ongoing health & safety programs. Areas include manufacturing, product and chemical storage, warehousing, labs, clean rooms, and other manufacturing areas. Will be responsible for compliance with Federal, State and City rules and regulations. May work with Industrial Hygienist to evaluate manufacturing procedures and ensure safe operations. Work with Oregon OSHA for compliance and investigations. The EHS Engineer will represent the organization as the Environmental, Health & Safety contact.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Implement comprehensive programs that consist of required policies, procedures, training, communication, and recording keeping.
- Knowledge of Federal and State rules and regulations governing occupational safety, including state and federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) for plant wide safety and health.
- Federal and State rules and regulations governing environmental health and safety, including Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
- Techniques for investigating environmental, health and safety concerns and conditions.
- Guidelines used in environmental quality controls.
- Safety protocols and environmental protection issues.
- Record keeping and technical reporting principles and procedures.
- Advise on all regulatory contacts, inquiries, and responses including some permitting requirements.
- Drive awareness and accountability for health and safety performance through all levels of the organization; create a Safety Culture and adopt best practices.
- Provide regular summary reports and analysis on health and safety activities, performance measurements, goals, objectives and results.
- Work with leadership team to identify and implement improvement opportunities based on employee feedback, observation and data trends (i.e. injuries, incidents).
- Assess job hazards (chemical, physical, ergonomic) and collaborate with engineering/operational teams to ensure equipment, processes, and tasks meet regulatory requirements and minimize risks.
- Represent company for audits including OSHA, customer, ISO14001, ISO45001, and RBA
- Develop emergency response preparedness and emergency action plan.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in related field such as Safety, Health or Engineering with 2-4 years of experience preferred
Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Certifications & Licenses:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
Experience in safety in a manufacturing environment
HAZWOPER certification is a plus
CFR 49 Transportation (DOT, IATA, IMDG) training
Knowledge of international regulations (REACH, RoHS, TSCA)

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works primarily in an office environment with frequent walkthroughs and inspections of labs, manufacturing and warehouse areas. Exposure to warehouse and hazardous materials and chemicals.
